Vidya Cookie Notice

Last updated August 31, 2026.

This notice explains how Vidya uses cookies and similar technologies on vidya.co, the Vidya web app, the Vidya BOS extension, and the Vidya mobile apps. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, software development kits (SDKs) in mobile apps, and extension storage. We use the word "cookies" to cover all of them.

2. What we use and why

We use a small number of first-party cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, social media pixels, or fingerprinting.

Strictly necessary

These make Vidya work. You cannot turn them off without breaking sign-in.

Analytics

We use PostHog, configured as a first-party analytics tool on our own domain, to understand how people use Vidya: which features are used, where people get stuck, and how the product performs. Analytics data is associated with a pseudonymous identifier and used in aggregate. It does not include the content of your conversations.

NamePurposeDuration
ph_*Pseudonymous analytics identifier and session state12 months

You can opt out of analytics in Settings > Privacy > Analytics or through the cookie banner on your first visit. We honor Global Privacy Control signals from your browser as an opt-out of analytics.

Extension storage

Vidya BOS uses Chrome extension storage to hold your sign-in token, your mode preference (copilot or agent), and per-site settings you choose. It does not use cookies to track browsing. See the Vidya BOS Privacy Disclosure.

Mobile apps

The iOS and Android apps use SDKs for analytics (PostHog), crash reporting, and push notifications. Each is configured to receive only what it needs. You can control push notifications in your device settings and analytics in Settings > Privacy.

3. What we do not use

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Social media plugins or pixels
  • Third-party tracking across other websites
  • Fingerprinting or other covert identification

4. Managing cookies

In Vidya. Settings > Privacy lets you turn analytics on or off at any time.

In your browser. Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of analytics for that browser.

5. Changes

We update this notice when our use of cookies changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
